Millie and Max tell us about London Bridge Is Falling Down

Some people think this nursery rhyme is about a Viking attack in 1014 led by Olaf II of Norway, who destroyed the bridge during the attack.

Another theory is much darker, suggesting that the bridge was built on a foundation of human bodies, which wasn’t strong enough to support its weight!

In 1968, the actual London Bridge was transported brick by brick to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, after the city’s founder Robert McCulloch bought it for 2.5 million dollars.

It cost him another 7 million dollars to transport and rebuild it!

London Bridge was absolutely crowded with buildings, spanning the river Thames.
By 1358 it had 138 shops!
